. WELCOME TO JT MOORE! We are THE BEST neighborhood middle school in Nashville! Our website is new and still "under construction" in some areas, but there is a wealth of information already posted. Please browse and get to know us better. We will continue to update regularly, with teacher web pages fully functional for the start of the 2008-2009 academic year. Thank you for visiting!
On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, we will give ThinkLink assessments in Reading and Math. These are district-wide tests that will generate baseline performance data for all students in these subject areas. We will re-assess with ThinkLink in November and in March in order to predict spring TCAP performance. You will get results home about two weeks after the tests are given. We will also do internal monthly probes in all subject areas (Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies) in order to stay on top of student progress. These assessments are designed to ensure not only that any student below proficient is targeted for extra help, but also to make sure that our students who are advanced are maintaining their performance levels as well. Parents should see on each teacher’s web page (and eventually on Grade Speed) reference to the specific subtest areas that will be targeted in performance probes and how a student performed on these probes. It is my expectation that teachers communicate each child’s progress in a clear and timely manner. Each homeroom (first period) teacher is to case manage their own class in regard to tracking performance on these monthly assessments. There will be professional collaboration among teachers in each of the subject areas in communicating progress and concerns. We believe that students and parents will be able to help us best when they are fully aware of progress toward mastering standards in core academic areas. Please remind your Matador to do his/her best on these assessments – they are like TCAP dress rehearsals! Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teachers with specific concerns or questions. Thank you!
