Our Matadors came out primed and ready to go tonight under the lights at Antioch High School vs JFK as they hit the field as one of the top 2 teams in the middle school division for the 2013 championship game.

Our boys hit the field strong with great energy, confidence and momentum after a BIG win last week in the semis against Bailey

The atmosphere was electric, the crowds were fired up and the sidelines were ecstatic as all were into the game! Our Matadors got on the board with a score in the first quarter to go up 6-0 (missing the 2 pt conversion). After that score it was a good, solid defensive battle all game long with our Matadors playing their hearts out!

It wasn't until late in the 4th quarter that JFK tied the game at 6-6 also failing to convert the 2 pt conversion. This would then lead to the Matadors having one more chance in regulation to drive the field and win in regulation.

On their final possession of regulation the Matadors marched down the field but couldn't get it in the end zone so the game headed to overtime. JFK took the ball first putting a quick touchdown drive together to go up 12-6. After converting the 2 pt conversion it was then 14-6 JFK. The Matadors knew exactly what they needed to do - Get a touchdown/convert the 2 pt conversion. On the Matadors series, they would need all 4 downs to get it done. It was 4th and goal inside the 5 yard line and the Matadors were able to punch it in for the TD. Down 12-14, the Matadors line up to go for the 2 but fall just short of the end zone giving JFK the win 14-12 in overtime.

Our boys, like I said, played their hearts out! Our coaches were so proud of the way they represented our school! Even though it's a tough one to lose, the Matadors had a great run this season with so much to be proud of!

Thanks so much to a great group of fans in the stands! Thanks to our cheerleaders, parents, teachers, and students who all came out to cheer on the Matadors!!!!
