JT Moore Summer Reading Information

As a way to encourage students to read, we have chosen to have all students participate in a summer reading program. Every student will read two books. One book is required. Your second book has to be selected from the provided list. You only have to read 2 books. Of course, feel free to read more than two if you choose.

Required Reading Choice:

-Read the book.

-Complete a Reading Log to record every time you read your book.

-Respond to your reading by completing the Reader’s Journal.

-Once you return to school, your teacher will assign a project. You will have 2 weeks to complete this project.

Your Choice Book:

-Read the book.

-Complete a Reading Log to record every time you read your book.

-Respond to your reading by completing the Reader’s Journal.

-Create a Character Poem describing your book’s main character.

-Life Skills students will create a Summary in a Bag instead of a Character Poem.

-The assignments, logs, readers’ journals, examples and directions can be found on the JT Moore website.

-Books on tape (purchased or borrowed from public library) may be used for additional support during reading.

-Check out your local book stores and public library to receive copies of your summer reading selections.
