J.T. Moore Given $10,000 IB Grant

Jill Pittman, principal of J. T. Moore Middle School, was notified on May 6th, 2009, that her school will receive a $10,000.00 International Baccalaureate (IB) Grant. Authorized in 2007 to deliver the Middle Years Programme (MYP), Moore faculty and staff work to deliver the MYP curriculum to all students. In order to qualify themselves for delivery of the MYP curriculum, teachers attend IB-sponsored workshops and training sessions, plan collaboratively and frequently with colleagues, integrate the five Areas of Interaction throughout their instruction, reflect upon unit plans, and meet multiple IB standards and practices. Grant guidelines specify that the money may be used for MYP fees and workshop registrations. This will enhance teacher expertise and acquaintance with MYP philosophy and pedagogy. Amy Cate serves as the MYP coordinator and Group 2/Language B Spanish teacher at J. T. Moore.
